Prof. Juliana STARR
Juliana Starr is Professor of French and a member of the Women’s Studies faculty at Louisiana State University New Orleans, where she teaches French language as well as French literature and culture of the Middle Ages and the nineteenth century. She began her affiliation with the AIZEN in 1999 with a presentation at the 8th International Conference in San Francisco and was one of the Organizers-in-Chief of the AIZEN Conference on her campus in March 2014. Since assuming the Presidency, she has organized AIZEN Conferences at the University of Alabama and the University of Maia, Portugal. She has authored an array of reviews and articles, focusing largely on representations of women in French literature of the nineteenth century, in journals such as Excavatio, Women in French Studies, French Studies Bulletin, and Bulletin de la Société Théophile Gautier. Her most recent publications are a chapter on Zola's theater scenes in The Routledge Companion to Theatre-Fiction (2023) and a chapter in La Monialisation des Lettres: Enjeux de la circulation transnationale du Naturalisme (2025).
